If you are planning to buy the latest DSLR with video, and you are having a hard time deciding between the Nikon D90 and Canon T1i, then this spec-comparison article might help you. Here are the major differences between the two DSLR giants:
The Canon T1i has higher ISO boost capability
The Nikon D90 has lesser ISO boost capability than the Canon T1i, so it looks like that the latter is the clear winner in this aspect. However, although the Canon T1i’s 12,800 ISO looks good from a marketing perspective, the reality is that it makes poor results.
The Canon T1i has better resolution sensor
The Canon T1i features a 15.1MP sensor, while the Nikon D90 sports a 12.3MP sensor. But there are several disadvantages with higher resolution sensors. For one, you will want to invest in a high-end quality lens to back the sensor’s increased resolution capability.
Video recording capability
The Canon T1i’s HD video recording capability is better compared to the Nikon D90’s D-Movie mode. The Canon T1i has been made to be more appropriate for shooting HD movies. This DSLR offers 720p HD video shooting at 30 fps, with a recording time of up to 18 mins.
The Nikon D90 is much faster and quieter
The Nikon D90 enables you to capture decisive moments more easily. This DSLR has a continuous shooting rate of 4.5 fps compared to its rival’s 3.4 fps. Also, it sports a quieter shutter mechanism; with less noise, you can capture the perfect images.
The Nikon D90 kit lens is better than the Canon T1i kit lens
The Nikon D90’s Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55mm VR zoom provides great performance and excellent photo quality. The Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS zoom, on the other hand, appears to be more subject to lens flare. It also does not look sharp from corner to corner.
